Stone, Spa and Splash

Natural Pool Design

While this natural pool design is one of our smaller projects, every aspect was carefully designed to meet the clients need for play and relaxation. Their hillside Bay Area property in Los Altos is bordered by a lovely wooded creek. Inspired by nature, we incorporated a natural rock element that has multiple tiny waterfalls. This rock feature is also snuggled around two submerged benches.

We also kept their existing Arizona Flagstone patio that they loved. The new construction matches so closely that they appear to have been built together. We specifically designed the pool to preserve a large grassy area as a play space for their kids. (You’ll notice a few toys and playful touches in the photos.)

A stone retaining wall was built to solve grade issues, but as always, we made it beautiful and functional with a capstone that serves as additional seating. The raised spa was deliberately built with an understated color scheme for the tiles that echoes the granite of the pools and the hills. The spa has a spillway into the pool and was built on the opposite end from the shallow area to provide a space for mom and dad to relax outside of the splash zone.

A Paramount in-floor heating and cleaning system ensures minimal maintenance and an extended swimming season.
